Evercolor is the quietest-growing leather story in the Hermès catalog. Introduced in 2013 as a premium calfskin for signature and special-order Birkins, it now averages $31,077 on the resale market — roughly $8,000 above Togo and $10,000 above Epsom.

What Is Evercolor?

Evercolor is fine-grained Taurillon calfskin pre-treated to hold color saturation and resist abrasion. Visually it sits between Epsom (rigid, finely pressed grain) and Togo (pronounced pebble grain) — but with a slight sheen that neither has.

Why It's Priced Higher

  • Production volume is small. Hermès uses Evercolor primarily for HSS (special order) and limited-color runs. Open-stock Evercolor Birkins are rare.
  • Color performance is exceptional. Evercolor holds vivid blues, saturated reds, and unusual pastels better than any other Birkin leather except Swift — without Swift's fragility.
  • Shoulder Birkin preference. The Birkin Shoulder (29cm) is almost exclusively Evercolor and commands $30K+ in basic colors.

Evercolor in the Current Live Index

Of 8 in-stock Evercolor Birkins on our platform today, 6 are Shoulder Birkin 29s priced $28,000-$39,000. The remaining 2 are standard Birkin 30s in special colors — both over $30,000.

Should You Buy Evercolor?

Evercolor is a good choice if you want a leather that looks "a little different" from the standard Togo crowd without the fragility of Swift. It's particularly worth it in:

  • Unusual or saturated colors where Evercolor outshines Togo
  • Shoulder Birkin 29 — where Evercolor is effectively the only option
  • HSS pieces where color combinations wouldn't exist in any other leather

Skip Evercolor if you want classic Hermès aesthetics in neutral colors. Togo in Gold or Black simply looks more "Birkin" to most observers.
